Richard Jabara is Chief Executive Officer of Meyer Jabara Hotels. Richard is a seasoned hotelier with over fifty years of hospitality experience and a remarkable track record in the industry.
Under Richard's leadership, Meyer Jabara Hotels has garnered numerous awards for excellence from the five major hospitality franchisors. Our hotels are consistently recognized as leaders in their communities. Richard's extensive experience has enabled him to manage hotels through varying economic climates, implementing a learning culture and best practices that have consistently produced exceptional performance in occupancy, rate, and profits.
Based in Danbury, Connecticut, and West Palm Beach, Florida, Richard co-founded Meyer Jabara Hotels with Bill Meyer 48 years ago. Today, the company operates and owns nearly fifty hotels under licenses from Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, and Cambria Suites. Richard's daily involvement in the management of these hotels encompasses theme development, training, staffing, and annual planning.
Richard has embraced the Journey Management System developed by well known management consultant, author and professor, Dr. James Belasco, which has significantly impacted the company's strategic direction. Additionally, he has successfully owned and managed hotel assets in partnership with various institutional investors, banks, insurance companies, and private equity firms, including the University of Pennsylvania, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Union Labor Life Insurance Company, Bank of New York Mellon, and Family Offices.
Beyond his professional achievements, Richard has been active in industry committees and organizations. He has been involved with the Hotel-Motel Association of New York City and was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee that negotiated union contracts for over 300 New York City hotels. He is also a past Chairman of the 4,000-member IHG Owners’ Association of InterContinental Hotels and Resorts.
Richard's extensive business experience extends to numerous other organizations. He is the past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Western Connecticut Health Network and recently chaired the committee that completed the merger of WCHN and NY-based Health Quest, forming Nuvance Health Network. This new organization comprises seven hospitals, numerous satellite care locations, and includes more than 2,600 physicians and 12,300 employees in western Connecticut and NY’s Hudson Valley. Richard is also a past Chairman and member of the Parish Council at his church and a founder and supporter of Dream Come True, a regional charity that helps terminally ill children and their families.
In his leisure time, Richard enjoys skiing, boating, fishing, biking, and travel.
